so not true in the mother not taking care of the baby after a human touches it, they will take care of the baby as long as the chicken has not been harmed cause i have taken care of a baby bird once and the mother still taken it back. :)
It obviously wasn't taken back to its mother because birds will refuse to take care of there chicks if they have been in contact with humans. They can sent the human and will sense danger on there newborns and disown them... I sure hope this person knows what they are doing and are able to raise the baby chick themselves.
this is same as my exp as well.. my indian ring neck was a hideous little monster, but in a week was covered in feathers.. scary at first.. just a sqwaking stomach he was.
I have been a bird breeder for about 30 yrs, from canaries, african grey's,finches, parakeets, to sparrow hawks--->Every bird I have seen is born naked and dries with a down like fluffy covering. The feathers do not come in until a bout 7-10 days later. There is no 5 hr period where they go from naked to plumage that fast. Be real here..
It's acctually not Featherless. Birds are born fully feathered, you just cant tell because they are all wet :) Give them about 5 hours and they will be fluffy and feathered.
