Farming For The Future

With springtime upon us, farmers across the U.S. are heading out to the fields to plant crops that will feed our families in the months ahead. With many environmental challenges facing our nation, today’s farmers take great pride in conservation methods to preserve the land and leave it in optimal shape for future generations. While a majority of farmers implement sustainable practices on their farms, it’s important to remember that in the face of varying lands and climates, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. However, thanks to advances in modern technology, farmers nationwide are more capable than ever of fighting hunger, protecting the environment and meeting customer demands. In this interview, farmers Kristie Swenson and Kim Bremmer provide an inside look at springtime planting season on their family farms. They also explain how modern technology can be utilized to maximize productivity and protect the environment. Finally, they discuss what the future holds when it comes to modern agriculture, addressing misconceptions, biotechnology and everything in between.
