Flash Memory | Flash Pens
Flash memory is an electronic (i.e. no moving parts) computer storage device that can be easily electrically erased and reprogrammed. Ttwo main types of flash memory exist, they are called NAND and NOR logic gates. The internal characteristics of the individual flash memory cells display similar characteristics to those of the corresponding gates. Flash memory is used in many electronic devices today such as the USB Flash Drive.
Flash memory is basically a compact, and flexible type of storage device. And used most often in portable storage devices. Flash memory is different from the regular EEPROM as thet EEPROM erases its content byte by byte.
This makes it slow to update. Flash memory can erase all its entire in chunks, therefore this capability makes it a preferable piece of technology for applications that require frequent updating of large amounts of data, such as a memory stick for digital electronic devices.
It is apparent the the price of flash memory these days has continued to drop, however its capacity and potential has continued to rise. This makes it a prime candidate for a wider range of new and current applications.
It is especially popular in portable electronics as I have already mentioned. The flexibility is its key element.Example being a memory stick is used to store pictures in a digital camera, and then can be removed and loaded into a computer, how easy is that.It is the ease of it all that make the flash memory a winner.
