SS13. You are 10000% right about art. Art is purely subjective! We give value to art, just like we do to money/currency. Paper money has no value other than what we attribute to it. Like "Joshua Frankenstein" mentions about poop. Remember Chris Olifi's 'Elephant Dung' painting featured in the Brooklyn Museum of art? Just the fact that a painting w/ elephant dung can be considered as part of an exhibition in a legitimate and prestigious art gallery shows that art is subjective. Thus, arguing about art is like arguing about why I like steak more than chicken. How many paintings I thought were completely stupid ended up selling for millions? There's the French saying: 'Des gouts et des couleurs, on en discute pas': As for taste and color, you don't argue about that. So, ppl saying this or that is not art is as good as saying that it IS art. It's a matter of taste.
I get it that you're trying to let ppl understand that concept, but don't argue w/ them. It's a lost battle ;)
whatever she is she is obviously controversial which is good enough for any creative person with aspergers brought up in an accedemic family which called me stupid every other second of the day. I am 57, a transwoman, an idiot, nothing, retired on a sickness pension because the women in work thought I still dated women and didn't want lesbians using their toilets too pee in. Yep, Manchester council for yer hahaha. Apart from my deformity she can paint my naked body anytime if she can stand the site of it.
I think art is dumb, I can poo a spiral on a plate and call it "funny brownie"; and claim it's art. it's really just poo on a plate. just like that's just paint on a person.
the archival value is in filming, photographs, and memories.
art is a subjective term. for instance, by your definition, photography is 'true' art. it is tangible and can be archived. HOWEVER, i could say "well, that's not art! the photographer didn't do squat to make the image! all they did was look at something, click a button, and let technology do the rest! art? no way!"
art is not a simple thing to define, with no single, specific criteria to define it.
and cake decorating can be an art as well. it all depends to the extent one stretches the limit of their craft. this young woman here is bringing a new twist to body art and photography.
btw, i actually do think photography is art. sorry to scare/upset any photographers
First art does no have to be archival to have value as art. Cristo's art is one example another obvious example would be music. or dance. How about ice sculpting? The list goes on and on. Maybe you have heard of immediatism, a movement which states that nearly anything done in a creative and thoughtful way such as a good meal could be art. but i doubt it judging from your ill informed and unreasoned critique. Also she never claims to be a painter. She is a photographer the ultimate in archival art. Apparently you couldn't let the facts get in the way of your need to be a critic with no credentials. May i suggest you read Temporary Autonomous Zones by Hakim Bey. It will expand your idea's of what art can be. BTW my guess it it takes as much talent to make a live subject look painted as the reverse. Also how are you able to judge someones creative potential be reading a sentence? YOU sir are no artist!
