Lions usually try to go for the jugular on prey animals after beating the crap out of them to the point that the just give up from pure exhaustion. Baby animals and easy prey are handled differently as the lion just swats and grabs a hold of them and makes a clean kill. That lion was definitely thinking that was an easy meal. And to anyone who thinks the lion just wants to 'hold' the baby, just look at the aggressive movements and desperation after realizing that she cannot simply kill her prey animal. She wants that baby to "GET IN HER BELLEH."
