The discussion about the existence of God is like the discussion about what is behind the curtain. Some may see signs of a presence and start to believe, or because they think an emptiness behind the curtain a very uncomfortable thought. Others are convinced that there is nothing behind the curtain and feel comfortable that way. The thing is: they are both believers: atheists are believers in the non-existence of God. There is no way to prove or disprove God. There simply isn't. An agnostic is a person who says: I don't know what is behind the curtain, because there is no way to know ever. Being an agnostic is the most reasonable stance. Daniel Wenner -- 18-Jun-2012 11:57:58 am -- As a scientist, he requires detectable scientific proof that there is a God. If that is the case, then why does he teach there is dark matter/energy, multiple dimensions, quarks, gluons, strings, etc, and believe it. There isn't any proof of these either... only theory. The 1st university dedicated to "natural science, still at the Vatican, (studied all known teachings) was Catholic and run by Galleo (after his spanking for jumping into theology - note Galileo wasn't spanked for his science..) The 1st Person to propose a sun-centered-solar system was: a Catholic Priest (not Galleo). The 1st person to propose germs among other things Louis Pasture (Ardent Catholic). Likewise: if those of us who believe would respect the beliefs of others, or the lack thereof, we could be in a much better world. It is OK to be passionate about something and stick to what you believe, as long as we respect other people's rights. Richard Dawkins book, The God Delusion, maybe of help to you to get a better grasp of the moniker, atheist. If you imply that you are comfortable with the label Agnostic why not simply com to terms with the fact that you are an Atheist. John F.
