Man i don't know where it is but that was incredible that was gnarly, perhaps the guy is still alive but if he is props man i would never ride a wave that big in my life though, He has some big huevos if you ask.
That's Peahi, or Jaws, on the north shore of Maui...and no, it's not 10 miles out. It's a bay just past Ho'okipa on your way to Hana. You can watch them surf from the cliff above it. And that rider looked like Laird Hamilton....but it could have been anyone in the group that rides Peahi when it breaks.
where was this guy surfing? middle of the ocean? By the way, the size of a wave doesnt make it a tsunami, this was just a really tall wave. The difference between a wave and a tsunami is the driving force behind them.
