Absolutely, and it is the contrast with the perhaps more common mode of thinking as displayed in this video which makes life quite difficult as one of these few men who can & quite regularly do have mere yet sincere friendship. In such cases, people assume poorly of others' motives only since their own motives are impure; but despite the shallow thinking of the majority, there are some few who aren't like the rest! Here's a real problem: most peeps don't understand & so naturally have never experienced true friendship. How does one explain sight to the blind? Despite one's best efforts, they must see to understand fully.
I was never able to be friends with a guy. it starts as we're just friends , but in short time they start to have those feeling, and the relationship becomes weired, cause then you start being more careful with your conversations, and trying not to be totally honest fearing of hurting their feelings. like you stop talking about some very personal stuff.... althoughh the gay guy is the single gall safety net, i could definitly be a very good friend with a gay guy.

Yes they can and, as they age, that is the only option left. Hormones in men change drastically as we age and I no longer feel the physical need to be near women at all. Women make nice neighbors and can share common interests with me but I am not attracted to them or their culture at all to share the same house with. They cook like shit and I can't stand people who want to wait on me or read romance novels.
Yes they can just be friends, however it is even easier if one or both of them already have someone, so they are both 'off the market'. There are many females that I am just friends with, but being just friends with a woman is a lot harder when you are single, and have been single for more then a year.

I think it makes women look bad. Men don't waste their time with a woman that's not good enough for us to be involved with (let's be honest, if we did those women would be into us in a one sided way). I like the question that is poised here but I think it's a little unfair. I don't think that just because guys might have feelings for a girl doesn't make it a "one-sided" friendship. because no matter what the truth remains that at our base we're nothing more than relatively intelligent animals and there is an animal attraction just like most species of animals the males are the ones who are out for mates and it's just a simple rule of nature.
